Mr. Austin Bowie

Mr. Austin Nolan Bowie, 68, of Frederick, died Thursday, Feb. 7, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Esther L. Summers Bowie, his wife of 44 years.
Born April 17, 1933, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Austin and Neffie M. Weedon Bowie.
Mr. Bowie was a Methodist and attended various local churches.
He was employed with the National Bureau of Standards for 24 years and then employed with Frederick County government for 12 years. He drove school bus 211 in the Sagner area.
Mr. Bowie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1952 to 1956. He was well-known to the tellers at BB&T Bank, the residents and employees of Montevue Nursing Home, and at several of the local grocery stores.
He was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Sharon Bowie Garcia and husband Chris of Cascade; one son, Thomas Austin Bowie of Frederick; one grandson, Jonathan Christopher Garcia; four brothers, Francis C. Bowie, Arthur T. Bowie and Reginald T. Bowie, all of Frederick, and Wright W. Bowie of Baltimore; one sister, Joanne Bowie of Washington; one brother-in-law, Carroll R. Summers of Frederick; two sisters-in-law, Peggy S. McClure and husband Foster, and Rhonda Irvins, all of Frederick; and three aunts, Emma Harris, Ethel Herbert and Pansy Bowens.
Mr. Bowie will also be remembered by his friends, Christine Macklin, Harriett Allen, Janet Jones and Faye Bevard.
Mr. Bowie was preceded in death by one son, Austin Thomas Bowie; and one sister, Doris E. Snowden.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Friends may call all day Monday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home, with Rev. Ronald P. Simmons, of Wayman AME Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Bartonsville Cemetery.
